During my first semester, me and my teammates designed a platform specifically to help international graduate students improve their speaking skills. We understand that speaking English fluently is critical to succeeding in graduate studies and to effectively communicate in a professional setting. We are committed to providing the best possible support to international graduate students who are looking to improve their English speaking skills. Our mission is to help students build their confidence and achieve their language goals, enabling them to succeed in their academic and professional pursuits.
The project was created in accordance with the human-centered design thinking. Throughout the project, we followed a structured process that involved several stages, including research, ideation, prototyping, and testing. We began by conducting extensive research to understand the needs and behaviors of the target audience, gathering insights from interviews, surveys, and observation.
The human-centered design approach enabled us to create a solution that was tailored to the needs and preferences of the target audience, leading to greater user satisfaction and engagement. By involving users throughout the design process, we were able to create a product that truly met their needs and exceeded their expectations.
When testing the solution we came up with through ideation, it was important to start with prototypes that can help visualize how the final product will look and function. In the case of a platform designed to help international graduate students practice speaking, there were several different approaches that were taken.
