In METIE course 767, I developed a venture called the "Online English Learning Platform," designed for today's busy professionals, students, and anyone eager to master practical conversational fluency. At this venture, we recognize the challenges many face in finding high-quality, accessible English instruction that directly caters to real-world needs. Traditional programs often fall short, offering costly teachers and unrealistic conversational practice.
This online learning platform revolutionizes the learning experience by integrating personalized lessons with cutting-edge AI technology. Our platform tailors each session to your proficiency level, helping you engage in realistic conversations, receive instant feedback, and continuously improve critical language skills like pronunciation and grammar.
In the MEITE course 845 Teaching & Learning in a Digital Context, I developed a six-week long online Summer English Camp Program for ESL students hosted on Canvas. Students will embark on a journey to master presentation skills in English, gradually building a strong foundation in grammar, vocabulary, and communication skills. The curriculum is carefully designed to ensure a smooth learning progression, allowing students to grasp key concepts, language structures, and practical applications.
Course Roadmap
At the beginning, students will be given an overview of what will be covered in the course.
Before starting the course, students need to check if they have everything they need, such as course materials, a reliable internet connection, and a quiet study space.
Getting Started
Before diving into the course content, here's a class outline to provide students with a clear roadmap of what they will be learning.
Course Activities & Quizz
The learning activities help students learn more about how to give a presentation in English and help them practice. For example, this activity will ask them to watch a YouTube video and share their thoughts on the discussion board with their peers.
Another activity is the Edpuzzle video with a Q&A section; students will need to complete the video and answer the following questions. After that, students will need to record their presentation videos and upload them to the discussion board. Also, they will need to give comments and feedback for at least one other student.
Achievement Unlocked
In the final week, students will need to complete their final assignment. To ensure students understand the expectations for each activity and assignment, I have created comprehensive rubrics. These rubrics serve as valuable guides, enabling students to learn precisely how they can approach and complete the tasks correctly. By providing detailed criteria for each component, the rubrics help students gain a deeper understanding of the requirements and enhance their ability to meet the desired outcomes effectively.
